GlaxoSmithKline shot on to the FTSE 100 leaderboard after Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett's vehicle, revealed in a US Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it had bought 1.51 million American Depository Receipts in Glaxo valued at $76.1 million (£38.8 million) and a $165 million stake in Sanofi-Aventis, of France. He bought them late last year and since then Glaxo has issued a profit warning.
