BIT's 6th International Drug Discovery Science and Technology (IDDST), held in Beijing Loong Palace Hotel & Resort from October 18-22, 2008, achieved a consummation. The theme of this conference is "One World, One hope". Many honored guests presented at the ceremony and gave brilliant speeches on invitation, among them are Dr. K. Barry Sharpless, Professor, The Scripps Research Institute, 2001 Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry, USA; Dr. Joel C Barrish, Vice President, Immunology and Metabolic Diseases Chemistry, Bristol-Myers Squibb, USA; Dr. Andreas Claudius Tschirky, General Manager of Roche R&D Center China (RRDCC), China; Dr. Wenyan David Shen, Executive Director and Head, Biologics Research and GlycoFi, Merck & Co., Inc., USA; Dr. Henry L. Niman, President & Founder, Recombinomics, Inc., USA. More than 600 world-renowned experts, professors, laboratory principals, project leaders and representatives of well-known enterprises attended the conference.
There were altogether 5 Tracks and 53 sessions following the ceremony, including "Omics", Molecular/Cell Biology and Drug Discovery, Oncology and Drug Discovery, Preclinical and Clinical Trials and Outsourcing, Modeling, SAR and Synthesis, High Throughput/Content and Virtual Screening and Drug R & D Licensing and Partnering in China -From CRO to FTE, etc. Meanwhile, the grand congress was greatly supported by ACS, Roche, SAS Institute Inc., and Bioduro, ect. International Nanomedicine Symposium, supported by International Academy of Nanomedicine (IANM), also got success.
This annual conference, brought together nearly 600 specialists from 31 countries and areas, was devoted to the leading issues and hottest topics and provide up-to-date information to all over the world. On the other hand, the meeting provided a splendid informative platform for domestic researchers to communicate with international experts and pushed forward the drug discovery development.
According to the investigation after the conference, lots of participants expressed that they would like to attend IDDST-2009. Depending on the warmly support and good suggestions from all of the participants, we are confident in organizing IDDST-2009 which would be better and more successful than IDDST-2008!
