Early last year, Michael Bots of the University of Utrecht, delivered a report to the Merck/Schering-Plough joint venture that markets Vytorin. Bots was hired as a special consultant to review clinical trial data that was using an imaging technique to measure the thickness of plaque in the carotid artery. His January 26, 2007, report indicated the data was "fine."
